Description
From back cover:
On a spring day in 1830, in a farmhouse near Fayette, New York, an event transpired which would dramatically impact the face of religion in America. This event was the official organization of the Mormon movement under the leadership of Joseph Smith, Jr.
Mormonism was among the first of several new religions to appear on the American scene in the nineteenth century. From humble beginnings this movement has flourished, today numbering many millions in the United States alone, with millions more around the world. Was the founder of Mormonism truly a prophet of God? Or was his power from another source? This book tells the story of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints, the second largest branch of Mormonism, and now known publicly as the Community of Christ. It is told from the viewpoint of former members who, through study and prayer, have uncovered more information about "the church" than they ever wanted to know.
